| | At the top end of Basingstoke town centre (up the hill from
Sketchley's) there's a Bolloms (along to the right) or Jack O'Newbury
(I think?) which is in the pedestrian-only section next door to
    the main Post Office.

I guess everyone has their own tales of dis-satisfaction or otherwise
with dry-cleaner A or B etc, and that they are all much of a muchness.
I know that when I worked in Basingstoke I found
Sketchley's generally ok, except when they were short-staffed, and
at lunchtime you either had to queue for ages or they simply closed
the shop. That's when I tried the others.

| | I have tried Bolloms in the town centre and received my clothes back
smelling of smoke. This is due to the staff smoking out the back.
Sketchley's in the Town Centre have so far;
	Failed to deliver on time.
Failed to press the clothes correctly.
Allow smoking behind the counter and out the back.
Failed to package the clothes correctly on collection.
Can anyone recommend a place that does not have the above features?
Dave.

| | Re -1,no.Basingstoke tends to have a lot of monopolistic businesses,
allowing either none or very little choice to the customer.

I am no longer using Jack O'Newbury in the town centre (details on request).
So unless there are other dry cleaners in Basingstoke, I'll go back to using
the Reading branches.
Dave.

Bolloms have a special deal on at the moment, where they will clean
two suits for the price of one (cost me 5.50 for 2 two piece suits).
Suits came back clean, not smelling of anything and very neatly
pressed. As someone said you can have good and bad experiences of
any business, but my experience of Bolloms was quite satisfactory.

Might be worth checking the prices of other dry cleaners, but that
seemed pretty good value to me, and saved me shopping around all
    over town.

| | Well, what can I say - my Dad has his own Dry Cleaning business and I
am glad to say it is a smoke free business.

Unfortunately the business is in Woodcote near Pangbourne so I don't
know if it would suit everyone but for your information he has at least
50 agents in the surrounding area. These are post offices and general
stores who take in the cleaning and a van driver picks it up and
returns the clothes within 24/48 hours.

We do this at Shire Hall, Reading in the shop which is called the Kabin
    on the ground floor.

The service is excellent and the pressing is good. He also takes shoe
    prepairs and alterations/mending.

When I was 15 I used to work for Sketchleys in Maidenhead and I must
say I know many of their short cuts. Their Golden Service is a real
con but each to their own I suppose!

I hope the above does not show too much prejudice!!
