    Did anyone hear of a Statistical package used in actuarial computations
    named Statistical Analysis System (SAS)?
    
    Are there any other packages of the same type running on DEC platforms?

	I assume you are looking for SAS Institute Inc SAS Campus Drive CARY, NC 27513-2414 Tel: (919) 677-8000 Fax: (919) 677-8123 While actuaries would undoubtedly use their software, it is generalised analysis, reporting and presentation software - and very good. But they are by no means unique. Acumen from EFFEM, FOCUS from IBI, Holistic Systems etc are all possibilities in the same area. Hope this helps. Regards, John Beveridge.

	Thank you very much for this detailed answer. this will indeed help a lot. If I understand, all the softwares you mentioned are general statistical packages. Is there anything specialized for actuarial computations? (In finance, there are lots of softwares for pricing and management of securities portfolios) Jerome

	SAS is used by Actuaries, and there is a VAX version. For details you could contact SAS themselves (919-476-8000). They are a CMP. You could also contact John David (DTN 297-5186) who is the relationsip manager. Since you are exploring the Actuarial world, you could also want to talk to Barry Kaditz (DTN 291-0152) who has developed an Actuarial Worksystem working with a client. Regards John Baker
