|  |     Hi Dan,

    Here are some answers to your questions.

   < 1) Yesterday I tried to copy a file via the data extract menu.
   < I got the same errors that were refered to in note "142.0". This
   < morning (01-04-89) I tried it again and I did recieve my files with
   < no errors.

      We have recently been updating file transfer options with all
    the new proxy information. See the next question.

   < 2) Another problem is that I named the two files "SPP_DEC_1988.DAT"
   < and "OTD_DEC_1988.DAT". When I looked in my Proxy account, the names
   < of the file were changed to CIM$PROXY.DAT. Cim$proxy is the proxy
   < name. If I copy more than one file at a time then it gets very confusing.

     There was a memo sent to all FMAP users a few weeks ago explaining
    the problems found in proxies set up between different versions
    of VMS. Talk to your system manager and ask him/her to reset the
    proxy access but using the following syntax:

          $ MCR AUTHORIZE
          ADD/PROXY CINEMX::username username/DEF
          ADD/PROXY SHOTIM::username/DEF

    < 3) Also, After I selected all the data I wanted to extract, it
    < was not clear how to exit the data extract facility. Should we
    < use GOLD-Q to exit?

       GOLD-Q is the way to exit.

	 Dan,
	    The previous reply had a typo. the correct (desired)
	 syntax for the proxy on your end is:
          $ MCR AUTHORIZE
          ADD/PROXY CINEMX::username username/DEF
          ADD/PROXY SHOTIM::username username/DEF

	    Also, I am curious about "CIM$PROXY". Can you give me
	 some information about how that was set up? I am trying to
	 come up with some 'fool-proof' method of dealing with 400
	 users having proxies set up in 400 different ways (no joke).
	    If you can gather this info for me, I'd appreciate it.
	 /ken   (ORCHRD::KIPNES)
