90.0. "Has the VMB boot text to console changed recently?" by ZYDECO::BODA (Realtime Products Support) Tue May 25 1993 21:57
Hi,
A customer of our recently received a new KAV30. Initially they thought
that it wasn't passing self test because the text to the console was different.
They indicated that it was hanging at self-test 2.
After some investigation, including running the continuous self-test, I found
that the self-tests were all fine. However, the boot text appears to have
changed from older KAV30's (including ours). When the self-test countdown
completes they get the following text and the LED shows a "2":
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 83 BOOT SYS
-EZA0
2..
%VAXELN system initializing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this a change from older KAV30's where the boot text includes only the
following text and the LED is sitting at a "4" during the boot?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>> b
 83 BOOT SYS
EZA0
%VAXELN system initializing
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Confirmation of this change will reassure that the customer's KAV30 is ok.
Thanks,
Alan

| | Hi Alan,
this is normal behaviour when you have a KAV30 rev Bxx.. the reason
is a changed firmware in the rtVAX300 (explained in detail in the ECO
and elswhere in this notes conf... long time ago...)
regards,
	Thomas
