|  |     Hello,
            an OEM is evaluating power supply systems for a KAV30-AA

    I see the
            5Vdc, 6.0 A tipical
            +12 -12Vdc, 30 mA (without Ethernet)
    om the data sheet and I've just read .-1

    1- could someone explain what does the note about Ethernet mean. That
    in fact when Ethernet is working the power drawn is much higher? How
    much?

    2- has someone certified any power supply to work safely with KAV30

    3- do you have any precision range about the power supply (5%, 8%,
    whatever)so that the board can work correctly?

    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Ciao
                                            Marco

	The power supply specification is in appendix A.2 of the KAV30
	hardware installation and users guide:
	Note: all values are *MAX* !
*	Supply		5C		20C		50C
*
*	+5V		9.5A		9A		7.9A
*	+12V		200mA		200mA		200mA
*	-12V		200mA		200mA		200mA
*
*	These power specifications do not include the +12V power requirement
*	of devices that you connect to the AUI port. However, this current
*	is limited by a fuse and by the capacity of the backplane connector.
*	These power specifications include the +5V power requirement of the
*	SCSI terminators.
	The *TYPICAL* power consumption at +5V and 20C is about 6.3 Amps
	without the current for the SCSI connector (the fuse for the
	SCSI connector is at 1.5A)
> 1- could someone explain what does the note about Ethernet mean. That

	The power consumption on +12V depends on the device you connect
	to the AUI, e.g. DELNI, DESTA, H4000 etc... The fuse is at 1A.
> 2- has someone certified any power supply to work safely with KAV30

	Every powersupply wich is compliant to general standards (UL,FCC,VDE)
	can be used, the total power consumption depends on the layout of
	your whole system (e.g. number and type of boards in your VME-crate)
> 3- do you have any precision range about the power supply (5%, 8%,
> whatever)so that the board can work correctly?
	The voltage range is compliant to the VME spec.:

	+ 5V 	+0.25/-0.125V	50mV ripple peak below 10MHz
	+12V	+0.60/-0.36V	50mV ripple ..
	-12V	-0.60/+0.36V	50mV ripple ..
