| 18.1 | Boxboro Euclid Usage | CUBICB::BARKER |  | Wed Aug 09 1989 12:31 | 14 |
| | In the design comunitee [ not including ESG and other marketing
    groups ] I believe there are 10 active lisc with another 4 planned
    soon.

    We are currently designing plastic , sheet metal , die cast parts
    and complex assemblies in Euclid.

    We use the solid modeler , sheet metal , mold technology , surface
    and detailing packages regularly .

    We are using the mold-flow FEM interface from the mold technology
    package and are looking at the NASTRAN interface for the future.

    Thanks Charlie

    Walter,

    The Systems Integration & Technology (SI & T) group (LTN2), part of
    MSB has just purchased 4 Euclid licenses. We are hoping to start using
    it for real product design sometime in September.

    Regards,

| 18.4 | Other DEC Euclid sites | CUBICB::BARKER |  | Thu Aug 10 1989 13:09 | 17 |
| | There are several others just getting started . Ayer Scotland
    doing workstation / small system work . Littleton Mass doing large
    midrange systems . Galway Ireland doing support engineering.

    ESG in Marlboro mass is doing sales and software development.

    Several other sites are putting plans together. Salem NH doing
    manufacturing startup. Tewksbury Mass doing support engineering.

    Other groups are still doing evaluations to see if the product
    meets their needs.

    We are about 1 year ahead for the rest of the company in our
    usage of Euclid.

    Thanks Charlie

| 18.5 | Ayr & Euclid | 44086::SHIELDS | It ain't no drag | Thu Aug 10 1989 15:48 | 11 |
| | I have introduced Euclid to the design process in the newly formed
    Entry Level Systems PBU in Ayr.

    Initial results have proved excellent and the software takes the pain
    out of plastic design. I have yet to use the sheet metal package but
    have heard very encouraging reports on it.

    We have currently one licence for evaluatory purposes and are
    benchmarking it against PRO and UG wireframe.

    Nick.

| 18.6 | And how about positioning UG vers EUCLID ? | RTOEU::WSEEMAYER | Walter Seemayer 089-9591-2311 | Fri Aug 11 1989 11:09 | 9 |
|  |     Dear Collegues,
    	Thanks for your response.

    	I would like to hear your opinion on how you position EUCLID against
    	UG II.

    Regards,
    	Walter

| | Hi Walter. I am from the CAD/CAM Technology Center in Chelmsford,
    Mass, and the project leader for the Euclid/UG Study that is being
    conducted. See note 10 in this conference for some background.

    We are gathering much "positioning" information about Euclid in
    our study in regards to where it fits in the engineering process
    in Digital, the types of users who are comfortable with the tool,
    its strengths and weaknesses in providing productivity gains, issues
    around integration, learning curve, training needs... We are also
    obtaining comparison information about UG II 7.0 which will also
    have a solids modeller.

     - Leisha
