We have a "Blitz" and technical notesfile at CSC32::TECH_INFO
    in Colorado.
Last I looked, there were about 1500 entries, mostly "Blitzes" on
    all sorts of products.

| | Old DECbridge 90's have a crappy DC-to-DC converter that wears out over
time, causing a short circuit. This problem is not limited to your module
alone. I believe we ECO'd that module a year or two ago to include a
better part.

Is this why our DECbridges become toast when there's a power failure?
Is there a part number for the ones that have the better DC-toDC
    converter?

| 5152.5 | Call 226-6789 for info, and consider upgrade | PTOJJD::DANZAK | Pittsburgher  | Sat Feb 22 1997 08:14 | 30 |
| | There were power problems with a series of DECbridge 90 modules as well
as a series of DECagent 90 modules. The problem with the DECbridge 90
is over several years old and the agent one is very limited and about a
    year or so old.

If you need the specifics, call the Network Product Support hotline at
DTN 226-6789. These are the support folks who live @LKG adjacent to
the engineers and they ALWAYS have the latest info on any/all network
    product issues, hardware or firmware.

If you are using DECbridge 90s yet - you may want to consider changing
them over time to DECrepeater 90FS modules going back to a central
DECswitch 900 module. The DECrepeater 90FS is SNMP managable and can
proxy for OTHER repeaters in the hub - providing some limited
management capability of other non-SNMP repeaters in the hub. The
DECswitch 900 in a central location can offer you RMON support for
groups 1-4 (or optionally full RMON support) for all 9 groups. THis
can help you determine specific LAN loading on your segments, do
trending and capacity planning over time. In a fiber enviornment,
consider the DECbridge 900FO (6 fiber to internal FDDI). In a mixed
AUI environment, the DECbridge 900EF (1 external FDDI, 2 AUI and 4 TP).

DECbridge 90s only do an older management protocol (RBMS) and require a
DECagent 90 for management. Upgrading or changing the LAN
configuration may be in order to help get to a more managed
    environment.
