I've heard that travel policies are being made more user-friendly.
Does anyone have details/official announcement? (A quick check in
VTX didn't seem to show anything, but maybe I looked in the wrong
    place.)

In particular, I'd be curious to know if the number of approvals for
travel has changed. Last week we sent an employee on a trip by car
with 2 nights hotel. No air travel involved. To accomplish this feat
    required 7 approvals.

Over the weekend, I saw my brother from Lockheed, my sister from AT&T,
and my brother-in-law from Boeing, and asked how many approvals they
    would need for similar travel.  None of them came anywhere close to 7;
    more like 2.

Mind you, I'm not complaining. Digital's approval processes actually
work rather well; the 7 approvals required only 26.3 hours. But it's
still interesting to benchmark vs. other companies.

| ref .1 - that info is correct insofar as getting travel expense
vouchers approved with exceptions - only need supervisor and next level
to approve (only need supervisor to approve without exceptions if
he/she has approval authority ti that $ level.) However, to get travel
approved to begin with, it stills needs to go to a higher level,
usually some mid-range VP or higher. Depending on the proganization,
it can be a long grey line.

| right, I'm not asking about approvals to turn in an expense report.
I'm asking about the approvals required PRIOR TO MAKING RESERVATIONS.

John, since I can't post the memos here, I've forwarded you the summary
    memo from Jose Ramirez.
