At the US CSC we sometimes hear from a customer who has been sold
incorrect hardware/software by a VAR. Is there a contact somewhere
within Digital that we can direct such information to?
If a VAR is regularly selling things incorrectly (and we have a
couple in mind) the customer gets angry at Digital, not just the
VAR. It would help all concerned if we could supply this information
to someone who could work the issue.
Thanks.

If you know the name of the VAR, go into VTX CALOOK. Enter the VAR and
it should list the appropriate Digital Account Manager.

If the VAR is a direct VAR, that is they have a Digital Business
Partner Agreement directly with Digital, then they will have an account
manager assigned to them.
There are other types of VAR's called Tiered VAR's who fall under a
reseller agreement. For example, the Tiered VAR sells NT solutions and
purchases the hardware and software through a big reseller, like a
Pioneer, Wyle, Avnet etc.. They have a contract with the reseller and
the reseller has a contract with us. So, if somone is doing it wrong
they need to be educated on what they are doing wrong. We make it
sooooo difficult to configure and build systems that there are many
many places to make mistakes. Every order should be tech. edited but
I'd say less than half are. Usually we find the gross mistakes on the
floor, but if you are shipping out partials on an order and then doing
integration in the field at the customer site that's where you run into
problems.
The place to start is with the VAR account manager if there is one. IF
not, than the reseller is responsible for ensuring that their Tiered
VAR's are in compliance and properly trained.
