I'm looking for the originial papers documenting the decision and
implementation processes Digital went through, in moving from the PDP
architecture to the VAX.
Any pointers and information are welcome.
Thanks,
Eran

Eran:
Gordon Bell's book ("Computer Engineering") is probably the
best source for this.

You might also look in the first VAX-11 Architecture Handbook of
around 1978 or so. This was when it was free and considered
technical marketing literature. It will show you how much of the
PDP-11 architecture was included in the VAX architecture through
Compatibility Mode. Not to mention the name of the book :-)
I assume when you say PDP you mean PDP-11. That's important. There
were a number of PDP architectures.
