| what...you've never seen them?
These are battery-operated flexible-plastic covered pop/beer "cans" with
microphones. When they pick up a sound, the top of the can moves
orbitally in reference to the bottom, making the can look like it's
"dancing" to the music. Typically they have markings representing
popular soft-drink or beer co.'s.

| They were popular in the UK a year or so ago, along with dancing
plants, but i haven't seen any for a while. They cost about �10.
The latest gimmick seems to be the levitron, which i presume our
American friends already know about ;-)

| The Levitron. It is a top which, when set spinning properly, levitates
about two inches above a base. Both the top and the base are magnetic
and at the right configuration they repel. The repulsion is enough to
cancel gravity and the spinning top has gyroscopic stability so that it
can levitate for several minutes before it crashes. The instructions
say that some how the system is chaotic but I have not figured that out
yet.

| Thats the one!
A square base about 4" by 4" has a powerful magnet in it, although i
don't know which direction the magnetic fields go in.
On top of the base you place a square perspex slab to help get things
started.
The top also has a magnet and various weights in the form of washers.
You spin the top on the perspex between your fingers, and hopefully get
a steady rotation (just like there were no magnets).
You then slowly lift the perspex, raising the top above the magnetic
base.
If you get the weights just right, at some height (1" to 2") the top
reaches equilibium with the magnet and remains suspended in mid air
when the perspex is removed. As there is little friction, the top spins
for quite a while.
It does take a long time to get the weights just right, and once you
have spun it, it all becomes quite boring!!!!
