Gee, I wish we could get H-P, IBM, and COMPAQ to stop doing just
that...
You know, I'm getting *damn* tired of our failure to recognize
the reality of the computer marketplace. Virtually every customer in
the world mixes and matches computer components to "build" a system.
Isn't that the *reason* we created all these little monsters (BUs)
in the first place....

| Sorry to be the party pooper....
In the *same* Byte magazine, there was big section on V-O-D servers,
plus a technology update for this area.
Guess which famous 3rd largest computer company never got a mention.
Not even a word. Hullo Marketing ?? The guy doing the article gives
his e-mail address at the end. [BTW, same guy did recent article on
PA-8000 'the fastest chip', and never mentioned us either. Who, me
paranoid ?].
If anyone from Interactive Video group is looking in, please buy a copy
of Byte, then maybe give the guy a call..

| They're really close now, but Digital did hold on to #3 by its
fingernails: COMPAQ had a $3.49 billion quarter, Digital had a
$3.75 billion quarter. COMPAQ's growth combined with Digital's
lack thereof should put COMPAQ in the #3 slot for the quarter
ending this month.
