ATTACHMATE of Bellevue, Washington is acquiring Digital Communications
Associates (DCA) of Alpharetta, Georgia. Both companies compete in the
    network interconnect market.

Does anyone know anything about ATTACHMATE or its products? Do any of
their products run on Digital platforms or interconnect with Digital
    products (DECnet, Pathworks, LAT)?

| Attachmate makes KEAterm, which is one of the best terminal emulators
    for Digital systems.

| Attachmate recently bought KEA, makers of the KEAterm terminal
emulator (it's now renamed KEA! -- the exclamation is part of the
name). KEAterm is one of the better VT terminal emulators, if less
well known than the market biggies (I'm typing this using an earlier
version of KEAterm 420 over a Telnet connection from an NT system).

They've got a big ad inside the back cover of the Nov. 7 issue of
    Digital News and Review.

| This topic is not appropriate for this conference, since it has
nothing to do with working at Digital. ASKENET would be appropriate.

Yes it is. First of all, I think you are completely and totally unfair
when it comes to moderating this notes file. Why did you allow 3501?

Secondly, Digital is trying very hard to get DCA to port its UNIX based
Unisys and IBM network products to OSF/1, as these are very important
to the mainframe downsizing program within Digital. The acquisition of
DCA by Attachmate could affect DCA's product and relationship strategy.
I was therefore trying to find out something about Attachmate and its
products. Seeing how I am involved in the DCA negotiations, see their
products as helping Digital win new business, grow revenue and therfore
profits, my information request has merit.

| You're right - 3501 should have been disallowed as well.
