I met with a customer yesterday who has a radical approach to computing
involving Differntial Geometry. The person is interested in
establishing a joint-venture to incorporate his math techniques into a
    base level CPU (Like ALPHA).

The CPU would target many markets --

Without getting into the specifics of his approach, he indicates that
he can provide levels of computing with PC type systems that are
    equivalent to large servers --

    THE PROBLEM:

He is having suitors line up at his door -- It appears to me that if
what he says is true, the capability on an ALPHA would ensure our
success -- Sort of like to Printer manna from heaven to H.P..

He needs to meet with an executive inside of Digital to discuss the
opportunity -- I have a document describing in reasonable detail
    pertinent information.

I'm concerned about getting this thing lost inside of Digital's
infrastructure -- The truth is I believe if I don't find the right
person, this thing will go no where as an absolute.

    THE HELP I'm looking for:

Who should I contact with the preliminary information in order to SEE
if it makes sense for Digital to pursue this opportunity -- Being a
brain-damaged peddler, I could only see a fit in:

o Transportation -- Under hood applications
o Machine Tool Industry -- Imbedded control and montioring
o Process Control -- Modeling and control
    	o Financial -- Predictive Analysis
    	o Insurance -- Predictive Analysis
o Pharmeceutical -- Modelling and control
o Health Care -- Predictive Analysis
o Environmental Industry -- Predictive Control and Monitoring

Don't reply with anything other than who you think I should be sending
    this information to.

    Thank You

    Dennis

Ed Caldwell is the VP in charge of all semiconductor operations.
I'm sure he could pass the word to the right people.

| I would suggest someone high up in the engineering organization who
has a lot of technical know-how (on the order of a Bob Supnik or a
Dick Sites). That way if they like the idea, they can sell it to
    managment.

| Contact Lucia Quinn or Tom Sadtler. There is a triage
process for the unsolicited partnerships, many of which
go directly to Palmer. If Supnik is the right person,
someone will help you get there.
I would also avoid specific reference to JV, since that
may or may not be the apporpriate structure for such a
parternship, but that's a secondary question to be decided
after it is determined whether we want to acquire the technology
    or not.
