| | Steve,
I got a name from one of their US folks while they were here at the
CLient/Server Tradeshow at Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Her name is Mindi
Butterfield and she handles the relationship between PowerSoft and DEC. Her
number is (617)229-2200. From my understanding, PowerBuilder does not run on
the VAX. It currently runs on MS Windows platform.

| | 1. Yes, PowerBuilder is a Windows Application Development Tool targeted
at SQL (Database) applications accessing data off a LAN based server
    (typically Microsoft's SQL Server 4.2).

    2. We (Digital) are working with Powersoft company to build a driver so
as to enable PowerBuilder developed applications to access VAX/Rdb
databases also. Please contact Jeff Balboni on more details regarding
    this pertnership.

    3. With new enhancements to PowerBuilder which support an emerging
interface standard called ODBC (Open Database Connectivity from
Microsoft) - Digital's ACCESSWORKS servers (VAX/VMS/Rdb) can support
    Powerbuilder built client applications.

    4. Finally, PowerBuilder has gained quite a following in the industry
with application developers, though the competition is right behind
(examples are: SQL/Windows from Gupta, ACCESS and Visual Basic from
    Microsoft).

    Hope this helps.

| | Is there a notes file? Didn't see one announced, but that doesn't mean
    anything.

Jeff Balboni left the company quite some time ago. You might try the
    comp.soft-sys.powerbuilder newsgroup.

.2 is rather old. Did you mean to comment about my question?

| | Yes. I noticed the new note and had a look at the older ones too.
Didn't notice the dates though. What are you looking for in a
    conference? Marketing or technical information?

| 2502.8 | Try ODBC | QUEK::MOY | Michael Moy, DEC SQL Engineering | Wed Apr 20 1994 14:38 | 6 |
| | You could try the ODBC notesfile as there are some powerbuilder
questions answered in there. Powerbuilder information is probably
spread across a few of the database/imnformation management type
    notesfiles.

        Michael,
Okay, I've missed dates before as well. Commenting on a note 4
years old makes one feel quite silly. I'm looking for technical
assistance. For example, as Motif is to NOTED::MOTIF, PowerBuilder is
to ??::??. I'll check out the ODBC conference to see what I can find.
I was hoping for a dedicated notes file, though.
