| | I would like to say farewell to Dave Tedesco. I don't think he reads
notes so he'll probably never see this...but....the important thing is
you will see it. He was our sales librarian and had things under
control in that library. He always found stuff quickly (valuable info
that would take me literally hours to find on my own) he always ordered
what you asked and actually called to let you know it was in. He was
always very busy servicing many sales reps. Now we'll have to do
without the information or attempt to find it ourselves amidst rows and
rows of cabinets and boxes waist high along the walls.

Also re: a few back. After having worked with a few field service unit
managers...one like described would be a blessing not a problem. I'm
sure he'll be dearly missed also.

How can you conclude that this comment is a criticism of the
    individual?

He was described as a great guy who didn't play favorites, who didn't
kiss **s, and who told it like it is. I commented that it was no wonder
he was gone, given those attributes.

This is irony (some would say sarcasm), in that the values described
are widely praised as good. To say that these attributes could
contribute to his selection for TFSO is a comment on our corporate
    culture, not on the individual.

Or else those traits are NOT widely valued, in which case it might
appear that I was criticising the individual. Believe me, I place a
great deal of value in managers who don't kiss **s, who tell it like it
is, and who don't play favorites, hence my ironic comment.

Frank is incredibly effective in bringing across technically based
issues to a mixed/average/normal audience = OA customers. He can make
    people understand things.

The quality of his PHASE II presentation in MUNICH early 91 - 2 days
for european customers - has skyhigh ( I had to attend this event twice
    therefore ).

First experience of his rare quality was a pilot training of MESSAGE
ROUTER stuff related to A1 V2.1 taking place at some hot rented place
    in EUROPARK Munich. ( I was just entering A1 space ... ).
He gave the audience ( mixed levels, european DECcies, Ben Geerdes in
the backrow, later to explain some job offers for AFSG Valbonne ) using
the first two hours a VERY IMPROVISED very LIVE and therefore very
EFFECTIVE technical summary of ALL-IN-1s ... let's say 'structure' ...
and it made me understand things ...

*** IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE ... I will never forget ***

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
DEC - terminating such incredible talent - turns definitely into a
"WRONG" environment for 'dedicated' people and 'fun' work.

Let's say - Don Vickers - should have started "ALL-IN-1 Corp." a long
    long time ago.

| 2113.17 | Sales Support in Minneapolis got hit hard | ANGLIN::SCOTTG | Greg Scott, Minneapolis SWS | Sun Sep 20 1992 22:43 | 16 |
| | Sales support in Minneapolis - cut by nearly 1/3, now down to less than
half the people we had before July 91.

Marilyn Rose - just a great person, 11 years with DEC working thru the
admin and technical ranks, doing PCs and Pathworks for the last year or so.

Karen Wharton - UNIX support, 5 years with DEC, COD'd to Minnesota in '90.

Ed Tuttle - around 10 years with DEC, ALL-IN-1, Pathworks, mail.

Al Wondra - jack-of-all-trades, hired in the 80's to close business in
banking, taught himself the software trade and learned it well.

Those of us left will sorely miss each of them.
