    hi
    
    I'm a student working for DEC as an Industrial Trainee in my year out
    from college.  At the end I have to provide a report and give a
    presentation on my year.  I would like to include a brief history on
    the company.  I have found lists of dates which include when the
    company was formed etc but I was hoping for a little more.  If anyone
    has any idea where I could find any more information, I would
    appreciate some pointers.  I am particularily interested in Engineering
    in the UK but any information will be of help.

	Prior to the book mentioned earlier the only book written was "The Ultimate Entrepreneur" by Rifkin and Harrar. There might be a note in this conference about it earlier.

	Re Livewire: The history listing consists of major events that happened since 1957 in this month only. To get a full list of "milestones", you must either read it every month for a year or see if the Livewire folks can send you their source material. The DEC_HISTORY notesfile is your best hope for history of engineering in the U.K.

	Digital libraries often have "vertical files" of information about specific topics, or can do some quick research as needed. Good place to start would be Maynard Area Information Services (MAIS), 223-2832 or ASABET::LIBRARY. To see a list of DEC libraries or to search the shared catalog, try VTX DLNCATALOG. john

	Tricia, I just received my copy of "Digital at work, snapshots from the first 35 years". You really ought to try to get a hold of a copy. This will surely help with your presentation as there is quite a bit of great info. Jim C.

	There is a book which is not approved by DEC or KO called "The Ultimate Entrepreneur" which would give you some insight to the this company. (Glenn Rifkin and George Harrar "Thee Ultimate Entrepreneur" 321pgs Contemporary Books, Chicago, New York. copyright 1988. So you see there is a big time gap also.

I have lots of information now and have the books mentioned on order from the library, this should give me plenty for my report.
