| | The Concern is related to bringing cameras onto DEC property so that
you can walk into the development labs and take photos of the as yet
unreleased Vax 99000. The security folks in the facility in question
    should be able to advise...

I have seen film crews at several DEC facilities including here at ZKO
(where we do have things that we cannot tell you about...)

Personally, I would prefer not to have my face shown on a screen
in the bowels of the DOD regardless of context.

They have the ultimate say on what is filmed where.

A few years, CNN news wanted to come to our little sales office and
film DEC employees hard at work, and PR said no way.

Digital has an internal filming group. They should be able to help you
with filming and getting answers to your questions.
This past year a group I belong to created a video to show with a guest speaker.
The video was filmed both here in HLO (Hudson) and MLO (Mill). The group I'm
affiliated with worked through the HLO Media support organization they arranged
everything for us concerning the DEC filming group.
The quality might not be Hollywood but its 100% better than what I can do with
my camcorder.

| | I'm not sure exactly what I personally am committed to through signing
my employees agreement. But I can tell you if I was ever used in a film
that was used to further the aims of the DOD I'd be mighty unhappy, I'd
do all I legally could do to ensure that I wasn't in the film. The
above is because of my political views. I would be very upset if I had
to choose between my political views and my job. I sincerely hope that
even if you are not obligated to that you ask and obtain the permission of
each and every person who appears in your film.

It is not my views, or the reasons for them, that are the important issue
here. But I know I would not give my permission for me to appear in
this film. I applaud you in having the open mindedness to give each and
every person who you want to be in this film the choice to refuse and for
    you to respect their views.

| | In my opinion, one has to be very careful in posing for such films.
About 4 years ago I used to work in another corporation . During the
lunch break, some of our group members gathered around the table and
were talking about politics etc.. Suddenly a film crew appeared on the
scene. The PR person who was accompanying the crew asked us to continue
talking and he wanted some footage of employees. He also said don't
worry about what you are talking..He just wanted some footage withno
sound. We continued talking about everything such as weekend plans,
elections etc.. To our shock, few months later, a video was circulated
internally in the entire corporation and the whole conversation was shown
in its entirety and used as an example as to "What one should not do
during the working hours. It took us a while to remove the footage from
    the video.

Moral of the story : Once the footage is filmed, typically the producer
can tell any story around it ( good or bad ) and typically by the time
the error is corrected, several copies are already distributed...

For example, let us say , a local TV station wants to produce a show
about computers and takes some footage from DEC. We may get some
positive PR out of this.. But after few months, let us say, there is a
major computer error some where else, like a space shuttle or defence
project or in a bank and it is possible, the TV station will dig up some
old footage on computers and use it as part of the story. It could always
be possible that the error was made using a IBM computer, but the TV
station shows some old footage on VAX.

| | .15 is a winner. If Corp. Relations were active in the conference,
    this is what they'd say:

Regardless of what they say, the footage would become "stock footage",
and whenever they needed footage to show a computer virus, computer
screw up, etc., this is the footage they'd use.

    Thanks, but no thanks.
