| | Aren't the printsets considered proprietary information? Or are those
restrictions only on printsets for newer processors?

| | Customers used to be able to order them so I'm not sure how propritary
that makes the information...
Check out the conference FINALY::FIELD_SERVICE (press <KP7> to add),
lots of old timers should hang out there.
I had just what you need once upon a time but it has been tossed out long
ago.... what's an 11/780? ;^)

| | Hey, if they're proprietary to DEC, maybe Robotron in Dresden will sell
you prints for the Robotron 1840.
The Robotron 1840 is identical to the 11/780 in every respect. I have
pictures of one installed at the University of Dresden (back when the
U.S. government wouldn't let us sell them there).

Ref "Soul of a New Machine" by Tracy Kidder, where DG openly admit to trying
to reverse engineer the 11/780.

Back in the 11/780 days a printset would proabably tell a lot... today
a lot of the signals disappear into a box on the print with just a name
(and maybe a part number... 21-xxxxx class?) on it... the box is just
a chip with a zillion legs on it that only DEC knows what is inside.

| 1430.6 | new copies might be available | SVBEV::VECRUMBA | On-the-Road Warrior | Fri Apr 12 1991 00:42 | 6 |
| | You might also try the literature order folks (either through VTX or
mail) for print sets, etc. I replaced by 11/780 maintenance guide a
couple of years ago when it was lost. I was really surprised I could
    still get a copy!

| | I found a local pack-rat that had the whole thing, still in the
    original boxes.

    	Thanks to those that replied.......Ray
