    Or	Just call 1-800-DIGITAL (344-4825) and ask the friendly operators.
    they can't give a percentage of the discount, put they will be able to
    tell you your cost for an employee purchase.

    Don't waste your time. The discount is worthless. Plus, you don't get
    any discount on maintenance. See the employee purchase conference
    mentioned in earlier replies or the delta_ideas conference for more
    details.

    Bob is right, don't waste time and energy buying equipment from DEC.
    It's like buying a new car at 20% above sticker, it's a joke!

    Don't be so quick to judge the employee discount. It pays to look at
    it! Some items have very good prices; a 14" PC-style "Super-VGA"
    monitor can be purchased for $50 less than mail-order prices, for
    example...

| 1379.8 | Individuals like us are not Digital's market | COUNT0::WELSH | What are the FACTS??? | Mon Feb 25 1991 10:54 | 11 |
| | I was delighted to hear recently that UK employees were offered a
    whacking 50% discount on PC products. I quickly got less delighted
    when I consulted the DECdirect Catalogue and found that, even with
    that discount, it would be cheaper to buy in the local shops. Plus,
    as mentioned in a previous reply, you are still left with software and
    maintenance.

    No, I'm afraid the main benefit you can expect from the EPP is a lively
    appreciation of why customers like Open Systems.

| 1379.9 | NOT SO FAST, WHERE'S MY CHANGE? | DWOMV2::MTHOMPSON |  | Mon Mar 11 1991 14:42 | 10 |
| | As with all my money, I always shop before I spend. While some feel
    that 40% discount on a product that is 150% of market price is not
    a good deal, there are some to be had. Why just last December
    Employee Purchase offered 60% off on selected (read that discontinued)
    PC's. This was truely competative. Supplies however, are a different
    story. I bought a box of paper for 60% of what it would have cost
    on the street. So, don't write off employee purchase just because
    you cannot cough up $750k for a VAX 9000.
    ALSO - There is/was somethinG called "The Outlet" that sold
    refurbished widgets.  VTX THE_OUTLET.

    This infobase does not appear to be available through Corporate

    closed down, etc.?

|  |     THE_OUTLET is available through DEC direct at 800-DIGITAL.  I just
    talked to someone there and they said that information could be
    had by calling or by dialing into the electronic store 800-234-1998.
    It's no longer on VTX however.

| 1379.12 | Shareholder discount! | BAHTAT::HILTON | Beer...now there's a temporary solution | Tue May 16 1995 06:49 | 12 |
| | I got this in a mail from the PCBU:

    Employee prices now extended to Digital Shareholders. Effective
    immediately, any Digital shareholder is able to purchase a HiNote or
    HiNote Ultra at employee prices--20% off list. The offer was published
    in the third quarter shareholders letter just mailed to over 35,000
    Digital stock owners. All they have to do is mention code JCM when
    they call 1-800-PCBYDEC (1-800-722-9332) to order, before June 30,
    1995. Tell your friends and neighbors to buy stock, then buy one
    terrific notebook at a great price!
