This is just a warning to those of you who eather work, live or have
to pass through Littleton, Ma.  I am told that starting this week and
for the next year 4 of the 5 bridges that cross rt 495 in Littleton
will be rebuilt. The bridges are the rt 119, Russell St, RT 2A/110
(known as King Street),and  Harwood Ave. Russell Street will be 
one way at the 119 end going towards 119. Harwood Ave will be one way
at the Foster Street end towards Foster St. There are DO NOT ENTER
signs at the rt 119 end of Russell St and at the cross roads of
Harwood and Foster for Harwood west. It's going to be a fun year in
Littleton.

	It's tons of fun getting to Westford too! The intersection at 110 is all torn to pieces. Expect delays and mass confusion when a cop's not there. Route 110 from Chelmsford to Westford is being torn up too. There's two places where the traffic is one lane. Working at home is the only way to work.

	I suggest that you also post .0 in the UPSAR::MASSACHUSETTS conference. Why are these bridges being rebuilt?

	Hopefully the reason is because of the experience of Conn. and N.Y. were bridges colapsed.. There appears to be a renewed interest in bridge maintenance..

	They have started work on the Rt 2A bridge over I-495. Traffic is moved over to the south side of the road. There is makings for two way traffic while the work is being done. I don't know the condition of the other bridges but this one was very rough and had been patched over several years. I'm not sure how much work is going to be done. Right now they have scrapped up the top layer of asphalt. Ron

	good going !!! lets fix the new bridges first.... i drive from fitchburg to bedford mass taking various routes. on route 3 the bridge that crosses over the concord river is sooooo bad one of these days i'll end up paddling across to get to work. on rt 2 in acton a couple of years ago while passing under the bridge a piece of concrete (luckily small piece) came off the bridge and took out my windshield. i think they should take care of the older bridges first. happy motoring. mike
