| | Some people believe these fortuitous dates only happen every
eleven years or so, but note well that after 9/9/99, the next
is 1/1/1, then 2/2/2, then 3/3/3, etc. And if you insist on
waiting until the last two digits of the year match up, what
        about 10/10/10, 11/11/11, and 12/12/12?

| | I heard a story on the radio yesterday morning of a couple in a
town called Eighty-Eight, Kentucky (supposedly a real town) who
had plans to get married at 8 minutes past 8 PM on 8/8/88, something
about inviting 88 guests, and the wedding party was scheduled to
arrive at the ceremony riding in (you guessed it) Delta 88's! I
think there were a few more 8's in there but I don't remember.

What some folks will do for attention...

| | When I was playing baseball, I played in a doubleheader on 7/7/77,
wearing #7, and batting 7th in the order. I played one game in
Left Field (which is abbreviated numerically as the `7' position).
The second game started at 7:07.

Lucky numbers? Not for me: I went 0-for-7.

| | In oriental culture, the 8th day of the 8th month is considered
aspicious and lucky. Most Japanese swords that bear dates are dated
the 8th day of the 8th month. We have a short blade dated August
    8th, 1636. Relatively new.

Keeping with that tradition, we staked our new home last August
    8th.

Since this subject is still alive, let me add my $.02 too. In _some
other_ oriental culture (e.g Hindu) number 9 is considered aspicious
    and lucky.

So you can fully count on me to enter a topic in this conference on
September 9, 99. And if the moderator(s) tries to jump on my back, I
    will raise bloody hell :-)
