    Sounds like a good idea. Basically the governing factors for me
    would be choice and cost. If these factors were favourable then
    I would consider using this facility rather than bringing food in.

    The working party (of which I am a member) is looking into 
    provision of food for ALL out of hours people, not just 
    evenings.Also we are looking at lots of other factors affecting
    out of hours working.We want to look at quality, as well as cost
    and choice.
    
    What about the "Shift Kitchen", isn't it about time the facilities
    were updated/replaced ??
    
    Keep the ideas coming and we will keep you posted with any

    down in the kitchen I'm sure it'd be very popular. He wouldn't loose

    Good news y'all.
    
    After a meeting with Alan Weston (Facilities) it has been decided
    to bring in a contractor NEXT WEEK to discuss the refurbishment
    of the shift kitchen. 
    The issues that you brought up have (hopefully) been addressed.
    There is to be new carpeting/work units/fridge/toaster/microwave(s)
    seating/decoration. 
    The problems we have had with keeping the place clean (ie dirty
    plates/cups/cleaning the fridge out) will be sorted by rewriting
    the cleaning staff's spec. Food will also be served on disposable
    dishes so this should cut down on the amount of crockery/cutlery
    that is used.
    
    Alan is speaking with the catering staff over the next two weeks
    with a view to bringing in someone over the weekend to restock the
    food machine. There will be some sort of menu system in operation
    which will enable us to order meals/snacks for the evening/night
    shifts. There will also be something in progress to give feedback
    and monitor quality of the food provided for the canteen
    I understand that there is also to be a soft drinks machine installed
    downstairs as well.
    
    Judging by the feedback I received people wants to see more healthy
    products in the machines as opposed to sweets etc. There are to
    be individual packets of cereal in the machine for people to have
    in the mornings either after a night shift or for early starts.   
                                                            
    If anyone has any more input that I can direct to Alan please let
    me know as soon as possible, either NOTES/mail. 
    
    Not ALL the suggestions I received were workable and if anyone has
    any particular gripes as to why their suggestions have not been
    actioned I will gladly explain via NOTES/mail!

    Alan Weston from facilities has spoken to the contractors and the
    shift kitchen refurbishment is ON!
    The work is to take place during the second or third week of April
    and will mean that the kitchen will be closed for a week. Alan is
    looking into the matter of temporary relocation of kettles/fridges
    etc for that period.
    There will be a meeting with the contractors to discuss colour schemes
    and styles of kitchen units-any input that you have-please mail
    or add to the NOTE.
    
    Order raised for refurbishment

    Replace sink
    Replace tiles above sink area
    Wall coverings
    door/frame repainted

    Went down to the "food" dispenser for something to eat at 18:00 tonight.
    
    SOD ALL!
    
    ....apart from a pate roll and various ryvita combinations.
    
    Now I'll have to go hungry till midnight....
    
    THEY ARE ENCOURAGING ME TO GO OUT AND BUY KEBABS,AND THEY ARE

    This doesn't help your situation Steve, but you might like to 
    know that at 17:00 yesterday, the food machine at the Crescent
    was sold out of sandwiches/ready meals etc. It only has canned
    or packet drinks to offer. Also, their sandwiches prices seem

As we discussed last night what I have managed to get the 
Caterers to agree to is;

      -include Breakfast Cereals into Food Machine

      -take a new look at menus in general (vis a vis healthier 
       foods)
      -provide a meal ordering/menu system for shift workers

      -provide a service at weekends to stock up food machine

      -their agreement to allow Security to collect items from 
       the main kitchen and place in shift kitchen fridge at 
       night(for such things as milk, ordered meals etc.)
       WOULD APPRECIATE YOU NOT MENTIONING THIS TO SECURITY UNTIL 
       I HAVE FINALISED IT WITH THEM

In addition to the above, and a little later in the year, we hope 
to have a cold drinks machine which would allow more space in the 
existing food machine.

We are targetting this improved service to coincide with the 
refurb of the shift kitchen - around 3rd week in April.

Just to let you know that on Tuesday of next week (2nd May) the

This will mean that we won't be able to use the kitchen for

Refurb of shift kitchen to commence on Tues. 2nd May and will 
take approx one week.(Coluor schemes already decided by your 
female colleagues)

Commencing w/e 6th May the Caterers will provide a Sat/Sun 
service to stock the food machine.

The menu service for shift workers will commence immediately the 
kitchen refurb is finished, hope to have a sample menu available 
next week (the selection will be essentially microwaveable 
dishes).

A soft drinks machine will be introduced when the Restaurant area 
is refurbed - July.
