guys,
My customers is using DECsafe and LSM environment with SW800 as a shared
storage which is mirrored. I was confused how come error messages showed
up and interrupted process on both machine everytime there was a failed
disks on the SW800. And in the worst case when we tried to reboot the
systems the systems got hung. We had to delete the failed disk from HSZ
command unless the systems never came up. What I don't understant if we
have to be present all the time, what the use of mirroring and DECsafe
as the solution.
My question is : What can we do on the LSM configuration to avoid this
problem, so the systems would be up with mirroring disks without
disrupting any process when the systems booting up or running ?
I need the responds ASAP.
thanks in advance.

| 766.1 | LSM is NOT in cause... | BACHUS::DEVOS | Manu Devos DEC/SI Brussels 856-7539 | Tue Apr 08 1997 12:04 | 12 |
Hi,
I think the problem is in the HSZ which is entering a retry loop and
thus is delaying the I/O error message. A lot of notes in the ASE
notefile are also complaining that "LSM" is "hanging" the system and
every time an HSZ is playing in that config...
So, I suggest you ask the HSZ conference, but maybe you should rephrase
your note like: " What event(s) can cause the HSZ to delay the I/O
request of more than one minute... " for example.
Manu.
