colleages,
A customer had the following mach check under NT. This machine is
serviced by our partner. But in my own interest. Does anybody have an
answer what this mach check is.. I don't have any service manuals to
decode the error bits.. and the decoder programs I know don't do EV5 of
the A1000
This is a A1000 5/333

Robert,
Something is amiss. Is this really an AS1000 5/333 or AS1000 5/300?
The data eludes to someone adjusting the speed of a AS1000 5/300
to 333 mhz.
This could cause the Machine Checks...
This value in BC_CONFIG:0000000001C11882, is only valid for AS1000
5/300.
Please check the cpu module for part number 54-24799 (a cpu that
really can run 333) or 54-24719 the cpu I think it is...
If it really is running at 333 and the part number on it is 54-24719
and you don't think the partner changed it, that is your problem....

Bill,
I phoned the customer. The machine is really an 5/300 machine and NOT
an 5/333. So what do you really think the problem is???

If the machine has NT V4.0 and is running a version of AlphaBIOS below V5.21, then upgrading the firmware to V5.21 or above will solve your problem. You can download the latest firmware from http://www.windows.digital.com/support/sysoft.asp. Scott | |||||
