Hi,
a customer is trying to register NODE4 systems and has problems.
Not with all NODE4 systems, but with some of them.
(MCC-SYSTEM: VMS 6.1, MCC 1.4, OSI 6.3)
When he tries to register with
MCC> REGISTER NODE4 dns-fullname SYNONYM nodesynonym, ADDRESS xx.yy
he gets the error:
Partial registration success. Please retry later to complete the registration
Internal error in DECnet Phase IV AM
Before this he registered the node in DNS with DECNET_REGISTER.
I hope this is the right way to do it. Right?
The customer uses DNS and I assume this is a problem with DNS and not
necessarily with DECmcc.
Am I right?
The strange thing is that some nodes are registered in DECMCC with
Registered Name = COMBA:.DNA_NodeSynonym.nodename
I think this isn't correct.
Any input what's wrong here?

No, that's not the right way. You don't have to register nodes using
DECNET_REGISTER. MCC adds some attributes when it does a node registration.
So, you must register/deregister nodes using MCC and not DECNET_REGISTER.

| The problem has be identified.
MCC cann't register any phase 4 node with DECnet OSI V6.3
The solution is to downgrade the system to DECnet OSI V6.2
