I've got a customer who just reported that he has been seeing MCC
alarms notifications disappearing from his notification window. I went
to have a look at this and sure enough, one can see the alarm sequence
numbers on the left of the display are non contiguous.
What happened yesterday is that they lost one of their Netbuilders
which caused about 20 critical/red alarms to come up in the alarms
notification window for the nodes behind the netbuilder. The alarms
stayed on the screen for a while and then all 20 or so disappeared
leaving a 20 or so gap in the alarm sequence numbers.
When the customer was discussing this with me, another customer
said "I've had that happen to me too - I thought I was loosing my
mind!"
There are no filters enabled for any protocols. If it was a filter
problem, I would think that the alarms would never come up on the
screen. Can CLEAR alarms remove CRITICAL alarms from the notification
window? Is there anything which should be able to remove alarms from the
notification window?
Thanks!
Dave

Its the documented behavior. It has been discussed in this conference a number of times. When deleting alarms, those that do not affect the colour of the map are deleted before those that do. You can change this to delete the oldest, or you can up the size of the buffer to greater than 500 notifications. Your choice. | |||||
