| 5993.1 | Get an IP address | SCCA::dave | Ahh, but fortunately, I have the key to escape reality. | Mon May 16 1994 10:16 | 7 |
| | Give the node an IP address. All SNMP node (in MCC's view)
have IP addresses.
If you incorrectly set the customer expectation at the time
of sale, then dont expect engineering to change the design of
the product to bail you out.

| 5993.2 | .1 = not the right question | ANNECY::HAGENMULLER | EIC Annecy - dtn 7887.41.99 | Tue May 17 1994 11:25 | 14 |
| | The problem we are faced with deals more with the proxy functionality than
DECmcc normally provides : when an snmp entity is proxied (which means that
another snmp entity acts on behalf of it) you must just register the entity
as a snmp entity without IP address. This causes DECmcc to display a warning
message (not actually an error message) each time you perform an operation
on it telling you that the entity is only partially registered : this is a
drawback because we know that it is partially registered and don't need
all these messages.
Therefore the question is : can we suppress the display of this message ?
thanks in advance, Christophe.

	You request is a very reasonable one. In fact, a last minute change
	in the iconic map interface added this "feature" of continuosly
	notifying the user that a node was partially registered. This was
	supposed to be fixed in the V1.3 "MUP" kit, which never made it out
	of the door. The fix actually might have been put in, in which case
	you just need to get your hands on the new IM/PM executable.
	Rahul.
