| 5165.1 | Incomp Vers of Framwork and Notif on May CD??? | VCSESU::WADE | Bill Wade, VAXc Systems & Support Eng | Wed Jun 09 1993 08:45 | 22 |
| | I was presented with the same problem except -

      - the May CD has
    		POLYCENTER FRAMEWORK V1.3
    		    and
    		NOTIFICATION packages V1.2a.

      - the support person installed both. I guess he just assumed they
    	would be compatable because they were on the same CD.

    He said that there were no warnings/errors during the NOTIFICATION
    packages V1.2a install. Now when he tries to start up the IMPM he gets an
    error message that looks something like this -

    	MCC_S_PM_DICT_NO_PRES_DIRECTIVE-NODE 8 CSMACD 5
    	PRES NAME FOR DIRECTIVE IS NOT IN DICTIONARY

    My recommendation is to reinstall the Framework and the Notification
    package. But, where can I find Notification package V1.3 on the net?

    Help,
    Bill

    The real question is can engineering give us an answer to the
    question, "Should Notification Services 1.2A work with Framework 1.3?"

    re .1

    I'm using second hand information that says "I installed everything
    correctly (no logs) but DECmcc crashes when I try to start up the
    IMPM". I've asked for a screen dump of the error message but its
    coming from the other side of the world.

    re. 3

    My info says it will be available tomorrow morning.

    My opinion: VMS, maybe but possibly not. Ultrix, probably not.

    On the PM side of things, the code is part of the IMPM anyway - all
    you'll need is the license. The FM and the dictionary update is where
    you might fall down.

| 5165.6 | ULTRIX Notification Svcs kit available ? | SMAC10::BARKER_E | Ummm... | Wed Jun 23 1993 03:10 | 10 |
|  |     Hi,

    	What about the availability of the notification package for ULTRIX
    ? The same problem is apparent on those CD's and I have the same
    problem as discussed in .0, and need the 1.3 notification package asap.

    Any pointers to the kit would be much appreciated and very useful for
    the customer !

| 5165.7 | Just use BMS instead? | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Wed Jun 23 1993 13:06 | 5 |
| | If you simply install the BMS kit you get all the other stuff and don't
    need to piece it together. I believe the BMS kit is correct on the MAY
    CDs.

| 5165.8 | no bms license... | SMAC10::BARKER_E | Ummm... | Wed Jun 23 1993 15:28 | 11 |
|  |
    The customer only has the director and notification
    licenses. Will the BMS install correctly with these licenses ?

    Will the right functionality show through the menus ? Will any non-licensed
    functionality such as historian show up on menus etc. or be available
    for use ?

    Thanks,

| 5165.9 | Ok, continue to try and get the right kits | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Thu Jun 24 1993 15:11 | 9 |
| | Oh. Sigh... That's what I was afraid would happen when they built
    all the individual kits even though the reasons were good (so OEMs
    and partners could build applications with just the parts they needed).
    I suspect the easiest way out is for end users to have bms or ems
    licenses though eventually the correct kits will show up.

    I will back out and return you to your original process.
