5072.0. "ALARM_FM & NODE4 pb !?!" by ZTOIS1::VISTA (Renato VISTA, MCS/SPS France/Strasbourg) Mon May 17 1993 10:30
    Hi,

    Using DECmcc V1.2.3/ULTRIX/BMS on a DECsystem 5900, as operating
    platform, one of my customer is meeting the following problem :

    - defining an ALARM_FM rule on a NODE4 entity (DEMSA with X25 Router
    2000 V1.1 BL7), seen as designated router on which sink nodes are
    currently defined -DECmcc host SXA212, 26.212, particularly- :

    (node4 SXG009 outbound stream 26.212 address<>26.212, at every =
    00:03:00)

    ... to check every 3 minutes the correct sink node definition to be
    sure that DECnet events may be really sent by the router SXG009 ;

    - from 2 to 10 times per day, the previous rule returns as
    INDETERMINATE (exception) with the following information message :

    "Link to node lost"

    - to test more accuratly, an "NCP>set exec node SXG009" session has
    been defined to catch any broken link/session. NO problem occurs till
    now using this way of investigation.

    My questions are :

    1) is there a DECmcc ALARM_FM timeout occurring when the expected
    data to be sent by the router are not returned ?

    2) is this a DECnet/X25router2000 problem of session maintaining ?

    Thank you for your replies.
    Renato
