here is an extract for a customer call. Can anyone explain what is
happening here? (or not happening)
Customer is installing DECmcc for ultrix v1.3 on an Ultrix v4.3 node
which has OSI 5.1 installed on it. He is trying to set up the event
sinks using the OSI AM (chapter 11) and the MCC 1.3 release notes,
section 3
..........
Chapter eleven has me create and outbound stream pointing to and event
sink named MCC_EVL_SINK.
The release notes state that this must be in upper case, and that the
process mcc_dna5_evl must be started before firing up the outbound stream.
No where is there a discription of what the event sink, MCC_EVL_SINK
must look like, or how it is created. I'm assuming that it is some way
must point to the mcc_dna5_evl process. If firing up that process is
supposed to create the sink, then that is not occuring on my machine
(ultrix). A sho event disp sink * stat only shows the local_sink.
.........
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer to solve this mystery.

This is indeed very poorly documented and I have QAR'd the issue.
In any case you might want to look at note 4673 and a few others that
talk about this subject.....try DIR/TITLE={OSI or DNA5} for starters.
The way I understand it is that in Phase V system, the MCC_DNA5_EVL
process captures all events and shuffles them off to MCC_EVL_SINK.
Make sure that the outbound stream on the remote node attempting to
connect to your MCC system is in state ON-CONNECTED. Also make sure
you have an outbound stream on that system and that is has the
address parameter set up correctly.
It has been my experience that the only way that this works is if
you enter an address tower set for the OUTBOUND STREAM, pointing to
the MCC node, but others may correct me on this.
Good luck....I have yet to get this to work consistantly.
Also becareful of case sensitivity if your using the MIR and DNS
namespaces if your using DNS. If everything is not setup correctly
you can spend a great deal of time trying to get this to work.
