3.1.2 Map File Format Change From V1.2
A change was made to the map file format for V1.3 DECmcc. The
change is apparent in those map files which contain vector
backdrop objects. In V1.2 these objects were stored in the map
file. In V1.3 these objects are stored in a backdrop file, and a
"pointer" to that backdrop file is stored in the map file. This
change facilitated addition of support for specifying backdrops
     using the IMPM interface.
V1.2 map files will be read by DECmcc V1.3, but if saved will be
saved in the V1.3 format. The change in format is invisible to
the user, but has one side effect with regard to text objects in
the map. Since the IMPM cannot differentiate between
backdrop-related text and other text added using the alphabet
tool in the Toolbox, all text is assumed to be non-backdrop text.
The result is that text objects will not be saved in the backdrop
file when a V1.2 map is converted to the V1.3 format. The text
objects will remain part of the map file.
The best way to convert map files with vector backdrops is to
open the relevant domain, delete the backdrop by choosing the
Edit->Backdrop->Delete option, delete any backdrop-related text
using the single-line delete tool in the Toolbox, add a V1.3
vector backdrop and save the map.
An alternative is to edit the map file manually (not recommended)
and change the object_type of all backdrop-related text from 7 to
     18. If this is done, when the V1.2 map file is saved in the IMPM
it will be converted to V1.3 format and all the text objects with
object_type 18 will be saved in the backdrop file (not the map
     file).

     3.5.1 New Features
Major new features in Notification Services T1.3.1 include:
o You can select a notification, and find the entity in the
domain in which the notification occurred.
o Notification Filtering now has the following options
         available:
          - save filtering in a startup file
          - Notifications that are not displayed due to filters can
             be deleted.
          - You can save and restore filters settings from file.
o The algorithm for deleting notifications from the
Notification Services window when the maximum notifications
is reached has been changed. The new algorithm is to remove
the oldest, lowest severity entry not in use by the map.
SOFTWARE NOTES FOR MANAGEMENT MODULES Page 3-13
o DECmcc now has the capacity to receive events from external
devices over UDP/IP as well as over DECnet and report them to
DECmcc via the Data Collector Access Module.
Refer to the Alarms and Notification Use for more details.
     3.6 HISTORIAN FUNCTION MODULE
     3.6.1 New Features
The Historian FM T1.3.1 provides the following new features:
      o Recording of events
     3.7 PERFORMANCE ANALYZER FUNCTION MODULE
     3.7.1 New Features
The Performance Analyzer FM T1.3.1 provides the following new
     features.
      o Statistics on RMON data
3.8 DECnet PHASE IV ACCESS MODULE
The DECmcc DECnet Phase IV AM provides management access to
     DECnet Phase IV entities.
The DECnet Phase IV AM has equivalents for all NCP commands
except Copy, Load, and Trigger. See DECnet Phase IV Access
Module Use for a table showing the equivalence of DECnet Phase IV
     AM directives to NCP commands.
     3.8.1 New Features
     1. The DECnet Phase IV AM now returns the registered name of
Node4, and the Phase IV name of remote node and adjacent node
entities for registered node4 entities. To disable this
feature on a VMS system, define a logical MCC_DNA4_AM_LOG
that has the value 1000; for Ultrix, set an environment
         variable of MCC_DNA4_AM_LOG that has the value 0x1000;
