Hello,
I have a customer who wants to know if DEC will be upgrading its
ethernet traffic monitor tools (such as MCC) so that they report
802.3 packet types. He understands that he can see how many 802.3
packets he has out there but he wants to know whats in those
packets (i.e. LAT, TCP/IP etc). Does anybody know if we plan on
having a monitor tool that will break down the 802.3 packets?
Thanks,
Stephen Rochford

| 3652.2 | is this product for real?? | COL01::LUNT | Fri Sep 11 1992 14:24 | 13 | |
Hi,
Has anyone actually tried out this product? Many protocols such as
appletalk send both 802.3 and ethernet format frames. Appletalk
phase 1 used ethernet and phase 2 uses 802.3. On our network we
still see ethernet frames with the appletalk type 80-9B althou we use
phase 2. So the point is, does this Network Professor really break
down 802.3 frames? or like LTM just shows ethernet protocols
such as APPLETALK's ETHERTALK 80-9B ( ETHERNET packets!!)??
Or perhaps someone knows about another product?
