| | There are in fact two SNA AM.

    1. The first is called Aetius, and provides two way management between
    netmaster and DECmcc. Supposedly it is going to be demonstarted at
    DECworld. Contact delni::d_holland for further details. Its
     developed by IBM interconnect engineering and systems
    centre inc.

    2. the other is called camelot, and was devleoped in france. It
     provides a monitoring capability only. The adavantages (i think)
    over aetius are
    1. there is some configuration information included
    2. there is no code that runs on the IBM system
    3. probably much cheaper as no third party software involved.

    send mail to clarid::patel for further information about the french
    tool. We are currently looking for field test sites. it was
    primarily intended to be a service tool.

| | For an informed discussion of Aetius I suggest you look thru
	the Aetius notesfile which exists on SMAUG::AETIUS. Membership
	in this notesfile can be arranged thru one of the 3 moderators:
		Daniel Holland  (DELNI::D_HOLLAND)
		Sally Martin    (SMAUG::SMARTIN)
		Kathrin Winkler (SMAUG::WINKLER)
	Aetius (DECmcc SNA Management) is a joint development
	project between Digital (LKG) and Software Developments, Intl
	in Sydney, Australia. The development effort and investment
	are significant for both companies because it delivers true
	peer-to-peer interoperability between DECmcc and NetView, or
        between DECmcc and NET/MASTER. NetView and NET/MASTER are
	management  "directors" for  IBM/SNA  environments.
	Aetius will be field tested at 10 sites in the US, Europe and
	Australia and will be available as a PRODUCT in Q1FY93. The
	product name is expected to be "DECmcc SNA Management."
	FYI, Tony Chance of Networks Marketing in Singapore or Mark
	Barron in SPR Networks Marketing in Melbourne can probably
        help you in the PAC Rim.
	See you in SMAUG::AETIUS.
