Hello,
I encountered an issue with the historian and a
similar issue with the exporter. I will below
describe the issue with the exporter.

only has been currently applied)
Problem description:
- I started the exporter background job:

- I sucessfully started a exporting for a node in the .MC_WORK domain, with
the target ADG$USER_21:[COLLEYE.DECMCC.EXPORT]MCC_EXPORT.RDB from the iconic map
- If, for the selected entity (a node4) I try to show exporting, modify exporting,
suspend or resume exporting, delete exporting for the specified target db,
I receive the message "No exporting for the specified entity"
- If I try to start again an exporting for the same entity and target (even
with different sequence name & number), I receive the message
"Exporting already exist"

- When I start an MCC interactive session, I always set my default directory
to ADG$USER_21:[COLLEYE.DECMCC.WRK]
- When I start a batch job, except if the submitted command procedure change
explicitely the default directory, it remains my sys$login (ADG$USER_21:[COLLEYE])
- My maps are located in a third directory:

It looks like Exporter's private MIR is corrupted.
Try to deregister your node and register it again.
Please, note that you need to repeat the Export command.

Sam,
In fact, this is what I did (de-register/re-register the node) to solve the
recording issue (see note 2148.3) on last Thursday (23-jan)
But I did not re-issue a new export command.
I just tried to modify/suspend/resume the previously (17-jan) created
exporting ...
I now again de-register/re-register the node and created again the exporting
(export command from iconic map) ---> OK.
However, if I try to do a show recording (that I had initiated last Thursday
noon (23 jan) - after you note note 2148.3 - and that completed on Thursday
evening)... again the same message "No recording for the specified entity and
partition"
I created again the recording (record command from iconic map) ---> OK.
I can now show/suspend/resume/modify recording and could show/suspend/resume
exporting.
Modify exporting still displays the same message (No corresponding entity
instance exists)
Anyway, the modify operation took place: I have only changed the export
period and I can see the new export period in a show exporting;
however export pools are still performed with the old (defined at
export command time) export period.
Later attempts to suspend/resume exporting do not work anymore
(No corresponding entity instance exists)
QUESTIONS
=========
From all this may I conclude that each time a node is de-registred/re-registred
all the previous exporting/recording are lost ?
Any advise for the modify exporting ? Isn't it the reason of the corruption
of the MIR ? Did I do anything wrong ?

Let's create a clean environment for Exporter FM.
Please, delete MCC_COMMON:MCC*.MCC_EXP* files. (I assume that you run on
VMS, am I right?) Note that that after this you lose all exporting requests.
It will not effect Historian.

Yes and no.
If there is an active exporting request and you re-register a target
entity the background process suspend this request. All Exporter's command
(except Export) can access this request but it can not be enabled. For
example, Resume Exporting will tell you that request is resumed but the
background process will suspend it again. So only Show Exporting and Delete
Exporting have a meaning in this situation. You can specify an Export command
and it will create a new request. After this the old request is not accessible.

Thank you for your advise. I tried it but the modify export still does
not work.
I have reproduced the problem in batch mode (it is the same in interactive
mode from the iconic map in ONE DECmcc session - i.e. without leaving
DECmcc): please refer to the attached batch log file for the details.
Notes: 1) we are running - VMS 5.5
- DECmcc BMS V1.1 (released kit + 2 alarm patches
from notes 1267)
2) During the batch job, no de-registration of .dna_node.TPLAB
occured:

Thank you for your answer. To be honnest, I do not understand it.
Potentially, I did not state my question clearly enough:
First of all, this seccond issue (recording issue) is totally unrelated
to the first issue (exporting issue).
From the iconic map PM:
- I started a recording with an end time and leave DECmcc.
- In a next DECMcc session, after the completion of the recording
(specified end time), I could do a show recording for the specified
entity and partion (state was supended)
- In the same session, I de-registered that entity and re-registered again
(with same (DNS) name), saving the map.
- After that operation, I could not do a show recording anymore
(message: "No recording for specified entity and partition"), neither
in the same DECmcc session nor in a new DECmcc session.
Question: what is the reason of this behaviour ?

1. I'm sorry,I should ask about the MCC version earlier.
The Exporter V1.1 has a bug in Modify Exporter command.
The "export target" argument must be entered in upper case. The problem is
that if this argument is entered in the wrong case the corresponding
exporting request is corrupted. This bug is fixed in V1.2.
There is a work around for V1.1. You can use MCC_EXP_RDB_FILE logical defined
to the correct Rdb file specification and do NOT use an "export target"
argument at all.

1. You are right: I tried your work-around and it works !
2. Quite honestly, I have detected the historian (recording) and
exporting issues almost in the same time, making a lot of tests
to see if I could find what I did wrong; potentially, as a
consequence of the 2 issues testing interferences, I have
made a conclusion too quickly; by the way, what is the DECmcc
version of test you inserted in .8 ?
