What is the status of the different access modules related to DECmcc
V1.2 (EFT).
I tried to install
MCCBMST012
MCCTKT012 O.K.
MCCELM010 O.K.
but
MCCFDA010 IVP fails (ACCESS VIOLATION)
MCCTSAM010 IVP fails
MCCTRANSLAN010 IVP fails
What is the status of the commonly available AM's? Have these
already be installed successfully on a V1.2 system? Will they soon?
Will DECmcc V1.1 be upwards compatible for AM support ?
What are the AM's & FM's which are about to work in conunction
with DCEmcc EFT V1.2 ?
Dominique.

What is the status of the different access modules related to DECmcc
V1.2 (EFT).
I tried to install
MCCBMST012
MCCTKT012 O.K.
MCCELM010 O.K.
but
MCCFDA010 IVP fails (ACCESS VIOLATION)
>>> This is on indefinate hold until after V1.2 when the effort
will be re-assesed. It has not be "upgraded" to work on V1.2.
MCCTSAM010 IVP fails
>>> The LAA group will upgrade. Check with Jim Townsend for
dates/details.
MCCTRANSLAN010 IVP fails
>>> Previously discussed in this conference. If you cannot find
discussion pls communicate with Doug McPherson offline.
What is the status of the commonly available AM's? Have these
already be installed successfully on a V1.2 system? Will they
soon?
>>> If you mean DNA4, DNA5, SNMP, etc.; they are in BMS. If you
do not mean the above, pls specify.
Will DECmcc V1.1 be upwards compatible for AM support ?
>>> If you mean will AMs written for V1.1 work on V1.2, then the
answer is "it depends". While it is clearly a goal to make the
upgrades upward compatible woth no changes to the AMs/FMs, we
are under presure to add functionality, port to other
platforms, improve performance, etc. If this means that subtle
changes are required that make upward compatibilty not
automatic, then that is a "wart" we must be faced with. We
will make the upgrade as easy as possible, given the
time/presures/resources.
What are the AM's & FM's which are about to work in conunction
with DCEmcc EFT V1.2 ?
>>> All (except perhaps DECnet FDA and the TRANSLAN) over time.
You will have to give the development groups time to upgrade.
Are there any you are particularily interesetd in?
Dominique.

| 1977.2 | Don't use MCCELM010 with MCCBMST012 | CHRISB::BRIENEN | DECmcc Bridge|Station|SNMP Management. | Mon Dec 23 1991 09:36 | 17 |

Don't use MCCELM010 with the DECmcc T1.2 kit! Successful installation (of MCCELM010) doesn't mean the software will work (I can guarantee that they won't). Please be patient: the next ELM kit (with Bridge Spanning Tree Mapping and Ring Mapping added) should be available by early January! Chris | |||||

Thanks for the overall status of the MM's related to V1.2. I have no
questions related to any specific MM. The question was for general
positioning of V1.2 today.
Thanks,
Dominique.
