| | Bill, do you want to know the theoretical limits or the practical
loading limits. I am guessing the latter. If so, the answer is define
what you/they mean by managing. If it is simply interactive monitoring
you get one answer, if you are doing historical data recording you
get another answer. I am sure this is not news to you but without
some guidance, I doubt that anyone is going to volunteer any answers.
Another issue is that the answer you want is based upon Ultrix and
with not being in field test just yet, I doubt that there are any
resources to put together the experiment to get your answer. Also
How many MIB extensions would you like us to address for the answer.
That is important because it establishes how big the data dictionary
    is.

The problem of sizing was a big issue with NMCC/DECnet Monitor, and
really needs to be addressed. Obviously, there are marketing and
advertising implications as Bill's request proves. Bill, how do other
companies answer that question? My guess is that they put some
theoretical value in that *could be true* (through minimal management)
    and *looks attractive*.

Without effective sizing information how can we figure out:

. What kind of system (CPU, memory, disk space, etc) to get for
    	  DECmcc?

. IF more than one MCC licence/director is needed for a customer's
environment? It is essential that the sales people know this up
front so proper expectations can be set.

    	. WHEN additional directors/MCC's are needed for a customer's
environment? This is essential for customers to plan
          appropriately (budgeting, etc).

I'm sure there are many other needs for sizing information. Wally, I
realize that this kind of stuff is difficult to obtain (and maybe too
early at this time), but please don't underestimate its importance.
What can be done to help get it?

    Thanks
