| | Also, if you have more than one map window up that contains part of the
heirarchy that has the entity that alarmed, then when you clear the
alarm in one window, the color remains in the other windows with no way
to clear it. In this case I think that "Clear Alarms" is a misnomer
since there really isn't any alarm to clear, only a notification to
    clear.

  Rob:
Exactly! The notification is what is being manipulated, not the alarm or
alarm rule (rule). The rule's state is not "cleared". Its state is still
enabled. The severity of the next alarm to be generated by MCC Alarms for
the same rule may become "clear" (a v1.2 feature for threshold rules, I
believe), but that is not the same thing at all.
I agree that notification services should not confuse the two concepts or
    our users.
                                                                   - Jerry

That's correct. It's purely a PM functionality to reset an icon's
color. The rule is still enabled, and the problem may still exist.
By the way, the menu item is "Reset Alarm" not "Clear Alarm" anymore.
I believe it was only in V1.1 IFT kit that it was Clear Alarm. This
was done for the reason that Jerry mentioned. There would be a clear
severity from Alarms FM to indicate that the alarm really was cleared.

By the way, the fact that icons only get reset in one window is a bug
    that is fixed in V1.2.

Hai, I tried at our site , to reproduce the problem. I could not.
However I do have a tk50, of all the log files, ie. set host/log etc.
But set host /log may not give you the mcc iconic map stuff. I do
have DECW$LOGs also. I dont know if that gives the sequence of
activity. If needed I can put the tk50 stuff on the net.

However my point is , whether I have alarms enabled, disabled etc,
it should not interfere with my other activity on the map. Like
when I tried to look at node2 , when node1 has alarm fired on it,
it should come back and tell me "scheduled time passed " etc.

To give you more details, the setup, they bought EMS 2.0, I
installed BMS 1.1 on top of BMS 1.0 which is part of EMS 2.0. The
    configuration (DOMAINS) is
    [US]->[NY]
    	   |
    	   V
    |----------------|
    75 WALLST	222 BROADWAY
     |
    ------------
    | |
    HOSTS TCP
    | |
    ---------- ----------
    | | |
    IVNODE1 IVNODE2 WELLFLEET BRIDGE

ONLY node1, node2 and wellfleet bridge are the entities. All other are
domains. The IVNODE1 is red. I am playing with WELLFLEET BRIDGE, when I
got the message on SCHEDULED time passed. I tried some other TCP/IP
    node
which is DECSTATION , under tcp domain, same response.
    I hope this helps.
