| 138.1 | VT1000 Not Supported | DELNI::L_FELICE |  | Fri Jun 08 1990 08:54 | 9 |
| | The VT1000 is not currently supported with either of the DECmcc
    Management Station products, SMS and EMS. As you know, some of
    the included products need a color terminal/workstation display.

    Some testing with the VT1000 terminals did occur, but with fairly
    early prototypes. Maybe someone else has tried this and has some
    recommendations.

    I have been meaning to test out the Iconic Map PM on the VT1000 out in
    the lab here. I know nothing about the VT1000s yet...I'll let you know
    how it goes.

| | As with the old NMCC, any display which requires gray scale (highlighting, color
orientation, etc) will NOT work on a vt1000 which is bitonal only.

| 138.4 | VT1000/1200 Update? | MAIL::CLAYTON | Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217 | Fri Aug 31 1990 13:37 | 14 |
| | Is there any update on the feasability of using the VT1000/1200 for the
user interface into the DECmcc applications?
It seems to me that with the current DECmcc applications, TSM, RBMS, LTM,
and Enim, one should be able to access these via an X-Windows terminal
provided color and graphics are not issues. However, what are the
implications with the EMA compliant counterparts to the applications
above? Will EMA compliant FMs and AMs work only on a graphics workstation?
We have a potential to proliferate about 20 DECmcc stations with my
customer. However, this is an issue that needs to first be resolved.

    I was able to crate a lat session on one today, but I was UNable
    to open the display. Has any one in the audience used a VT1000
    before?

| | I/ve said this before, but if the DECwindows interface requires greyscale/color
the vt1000/vt1200 will not work. The vt1000/vt1200 is bitonal only, and
displays are greyscale (like the Regis displays on NMCC) the screen will
come up black on black. Since greyscale is not slated for the current vt1200
hardware, this will not change.
