Hello
I'm a novice user of DECwindows, and I have installed the MCCSMS kit.
I have now got all components up and running, but I have some questions.
1. When starting LTM and ETHERnim up by clicking the DECmcc icon, I got
file protection violations. When starting the products up from DCL, I
had sufficient privilege. I made a temporary fix to this by making
a set proc/priv=all in the LTM$FILEVIEW.COM and ENIM$FILEVIEW.COM
files. Is there a way in which the LTM and ETHERnim processes can
enherit my default privileges.
2. I'm running the product from a VAXstation 3100 with monochrome
screen. My LTM graphs aren't visible, as the graph has the same
colour as the graph-background. How can I change this to make a
visible graph.
In advance thanx,
Greg, EIS Copenhagen

Greg; I have the same problem: > 2. I'm running the product from a VAXstation 3100 with monochrome > screen. My LTM graphs aren't visible, as the graph has the same > colour as the graph-background. How can I change this to make a > visible graph. Unfortunately, this is resolvable only by using a multiplane device (either workstation or VT240/330/340. Its the reason I still have a 240 on my desk along with my workstation. sorry, Don Jennings | |||||

The file protection problem is common for ETHERnim. The protections
on the ENIM$HOST_MAIN.EXE and both .HLB files can be changed to W:RE to
circumvent file protection problems in ETHERnim. Or you can set up
ACLs. LTM files should not be protected by default. Perhaps you have
inadvertently protected the SYS$SYSROOT:[DECSERVER] directory?
If it works fine from DCL command line, I would check your LOGIN.COM to
see if you have any commands that would prevent you from running either
of these products. You can customize either the LOGIN.COM or
xxx$FILEVIEW.COM procedures if you want LTM and ETHERnim to inherit
your privileges.
The monochrome DECwindows monitor for LTM graphs is a known problem. I
believe it is documented in the release notes. I'm not sure if it made
it into the SPD.
