Looking at the OpenVMS Record Management Services Reference Manual, and
from a bit of experimentation, then it seems that the only attributes
a new file might inherit from the old file is the file protection
permissions.
Can you explain more about your situation? Do you have an indexed RMS file
originally, which when a new version of the file is created by your C program,
it still retains the RMS indexed origanization? If so, could you send me the
output from $ DIR/FULL on both files, and explain what calls the C program
makes to write the file.
Thanks,
