          I'm actually not overly fond of C+W.. I'll listen to it but it
    does bring back bad memories... The ex used to go to her BF house to
    listen to C+W.. I walked in on them once ,ok I knocked it was hist
    house. They were sitting there all cozey listening to Achey Breaky Heart
    while tearing my heart to pieces.. But with my humble hat in hand I'd
    consider trying line dancin but be advised I gots two left feet ;-) C+W

    That's the wholepoint of line dancing...  it's for people with
    absolutely no coordination, so sense of timing...   just watch
    the bozos on TNN some time...
    
    All of which is not to say that there aren't people who line dance
    who can also walk and chew gum;  it's just not required!

    I'm sure there are some difficult steps in some of the line dances...
    but not everybody can do them, and most of the ones they show
    on TNN are pretty insipid.
    
    I also think they are much too regimented;  it's just too much
    for  my 60s mind-set to cope with!
    
    I think LD is a good way for some people to have fun, and it
    allows some people to dance who would never dream of it any other
    way.   Again, this is not to say that everybody  who does it is
    uncoordinated and inept...  just that those qualities don't get
    in the way  ;-)
    
    I like that, Daryll...  that's a whole lot nicer than the one
    my ex came up with...  which is just too unpc for  me too enter
    here...  maybe at a dinner sometime.

    Line dancing is fun because you don't need to have a "partner" to do
    it.. you can go to a club and dance.. not sit at a bar waiting to either
    get the courage to ask someone, or wait to be asked to dance...  
    
    I started taking lessons so that I could get out and have some fun..
    plus it is a great way to meet people.. you can't help but meet someone
    if you bump into them enough times.. (-;

Hmmm, always did like jeans and cowboy boots!  ;-)

I too don't tend to choose to listen to country music but I do like some of it
and love to dance to it - course I'll dance to just about anything, right 
Joyce?  ;-)  (have even been known to do the electric slide in bike cleats while
balancing a plate of food - ah, guess you had to be there!  ;-) )

I've talked about going with Joyce but my schedule's never been open at the 
right time....

Right Joyce. Been there and done that. So I'm more than qualified 
to comment aren't I?

Oh, and yes I own those grey boots, but since there's no buckle 
on there and nary a feather to be found on them, I'm sure the 
fashion plates at the local corral would frown on em.

It's a fad. It's dying a slow painful death. I hope it twists 
slowly. The local C&W place, The White Buffalo in Haverhill MA,
that was booming just a year or so ago now offers "greatest hits 
of the 60's, 70's and 80's", on Friday nights no less. When you 
can't fill the place on what should be one of your busiest nights, 
the writing is on the wall.

I feel so much better now :-)

    C&W LD is not my cup of tea, but I don't think it harms anybody...
    and it does let a lot of people get up and move, who probably
    would not otherwise "dance."    I think anything that lets
    folks have fun is a positive thing.
    
    and, as Kathleen pointed out, you can dance alone and not
    be alone...
    
    I even like some C&W.  IMO, the problem is that the suits
    have recognized the money to be made, and most stuff on the
    air is formulaic and lifeless...  it's the same pattern 
    over and over with any musical trend.
    
    besides, it gives us something to make fun of.

    music or dancing or...     if it makes *you* feel good, then it 
    *is* good.   You (obviously) don't have to justify your choices 
    to me....

Bad experience? Oh yeah. Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. I 
can't stomach 99.9% of the music and that could be a minor 
problem :-)

In any case, I do apologize for the rant yesterday. It didn't 
take long to get back into that "digital" state of mind. Everyone 
has their own thing and as Bruce said, that's "cool".

    I  had a couple of pairs of really nice boots once...  one was
    mail order from sears (!?!) when I was n the Air Force...  they wore
    out.
    
    I bought my last pair of really comfy boots in Oakland when I moved
    back east 20-odd years ago...  I took 'em to be resoled, and
    (as I discovered 6 months later) the bozo put a huge gash in the
    leather, just above the sole.. finally broke open, and those boots
    were done.
    
    I got a nice pair in Phoenix las December, but I haven't broken
    them in.  They seemed to fit quite nicely in the store, but a
    walk in downtown SanDiego a few days later made me vow that my
    next boots would be custom-made...

    	I've never tried to force it down anyone's throat.  After
    yesterday's conversation, I will admit to a certain fantasy around
    something I would like to do with someone's throat - however - since
    you apologized Daryll, your safe :-)
    
   	BTW - buckles and fringe don't make a cowboy boot.  Since you took
    two step lessons you can comment on two step - but until you do line
    dancing you're not qualified :-P

    	Kathleen makes a *very good point* going to a place to dance and
    not feeling like your in a meat market is one of the things I really
    liked about going to The Pen.  
    
    	You don't have to dance with anyone, you don't have to sit on your 
    butt and wait for someone to ask you - when you know the steps you just 
    get up and dance...
    
    	Another thing I noticed is people don't sit around and laugh at you
    when you're learing, infact most folks will give you a few pointers.

    footwear than boots.. Hey I'm a runner my feet sweat profusely. I could
    pix me taking my boots off and seeing people 50' away passing out ;-)

    been the 10 gallon hat with my gallon and a half head.. I'd still be
    willing to try it though.. Seeing Joyce at 4 Points several weeks ago

    don't slide well on the floor, but there's resin type stuff you can
    step in.  
    
    	I prefer the boots for the comfort and support.  Not everyone wears
    boots - infact at The Pen lessons there's a group of women in their
    50's or so, who wear dancer type leggins and heels - not spike heels
    but more like tap dance shoes.
    
    	On a regular dance night - you're more likely to see hats and
    western type attire - but is not a requirement.

    My neighbor has been trying to get me to go to El Dorado in Dracut for
    the past couple of Tuesdays for LD lessons. Fortunately I have been 
    busy but I am running out of excuses so I might have to give in next 
    week. Have you even seen a oriental cowboy do LD? :-) At least I have the
    boots since I went to school in WV. 

    What the heck? I will give anything a try at least once.

  I thought I was the only one that knew about the wet noodle torture. Can
  anyone keep a secret these days. Now the only thing I have left in the 
  bamboo in the fingernail. Opps! I guess that one is gone also.

    CJ if I hadn't!).

    This Saturday night at the Senior Center in Nashua (their renting the
    hall there - so hold those comments... (-; ) there will be a c&w lesson
    and a dance.. the lesson is from 7-8 and the dance is from 8-11:00pm
    
    The cost is $7 for the tickets... there are only 150 tickets available,
    so you may want to call the senior center to see if there are still
    tickets (bite your tongue and hold those comments.. (-;)
    
    Its a bring your own beverage and muchies type deal...

    P.S.  Went to Heberts in Bolton at lunch time and the lines was just 
    	  about out the door.  But the Easter Bunny was there!!

    limited wardrobe = I've got 4 closets full of nothing to wear

    I would be interested in any outing to listen to country.  Have been a
    fan for over 30 yrs.  Would be interest in learning to line dance at a
    later date--just off knee surgery so no dancing.  Will be going to see
    Garth in another week.   Still know where to get tickets.  Have a
    friend who works for ticket agency.

    Wish I had known that on Sat. night.  Would have discussed the concert
    with you.  My daught Kristie and I are going.  Amy, Krisite's friend

    I deleted the message from someone in the singles_chat looking for
    tickets to Garth.  
    
    You can still get Garth tickets at 603-893-7454.  Ask for Amy.  She is
    only on from 9:00 to 12:00.  Tell her I gave you her number.

    	I have to say the Garth concert last night, was well worth the
    price of admission.  He played till 11:30 and his encores were
    "Operator", "Wild World", "American Pie" and one of his own which
    escapes me at the moment. 
    
    	By the time the dust cleared it was 12:30 before I got out of the
    parking garage.

    I'd like to learn line dancing since I love country music.  I teach
    dog obedience training on Monday evenings; so I could do it on
    Wednesday evenings as long as my knee can take it.  I'd like to try.

    	Wendy - my sister and I try to go every Weds, but more often than
    not (lately) we've been missing the lessons...   
    
    	Lessons start at 7 - end at 10 - $5.  I usually leave around 
    8-8:30 with the 45+ min drive back to Fitchburg, not to mention the
    after 1-1.5 hrs of straight dancing - I'm tired!
