Hi,
My understanding of heterogeneous mixed VMScluster (VAX and Alpha)
requires system disk for each host on the cluster.
A customer wants to find out whether they can share a common system
disk for several VAX hosts and another common system disk for Alpha
hosts. Does it work? Is this a supported cluster?
Is it possible to share a common pagefile on a heterogeneous cluster?
Thanks,
Patrick

Each architecture requires a system disk. Multuple systems of equal architecture
may share a system disk.

That's perfectly normal and supported.
>Is it possible to share a common pagefile on a heterogeneous cluster?
Excuse me? A pagefile can NEVER be shared between systems. Or did you mean share a
disk for paging/swapping between systems with multiple page/swapfiles on it? That
should be possible although you should watch out because it's easy to overload such
a disk.

.0>Is it possible to share a common pagefile on a heterogeneous cluster?
This was possible with early versions of OpenVMS, I think it was fixed
at about V5.5-2. Before then you could install one systems primary
pagefile as another systems secondary! We got quite good at
recognising the footprint of a "cluster shared pagefile" in the
dumpfile that was created when one system paged all over another
systems data!
