|  | 	My STARS Article doesn't seem to "know" about a "3100 Model 88"
however, here are some that are "close"...

| 240.2 | V5.5-2H4, with caveats | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Mon Feb 24 1997 17:20 | 9 |

   The MicroVAX 3100 model 88 will boot under OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2H4. That
   release does not "know" about the MicroVAX 3100 model 88, and will thus
   mis-identify it. Other than this system mis-identification, yes, the
   system is supported on that release of OpenVMS VAX. (I just added a
   whole bunch of new information and new systems to the article that was
   referenced back in .1, and looks like I missed this system. If you do
   not have a current copy of that article, you'll want to get one...)

| 240.3 | and 5-5.2 on a mv3000 model 88? | MKTCRV::KMANNERINGS |  | Wed Mar 12 1997 09:03 | 6 |
|  |     A customer today tried to install OVMS 5-5.2 on a 3100 model 88 and got
    no joy. Is this because it is not supported ? Can he do anything about
    it?

| 240.4 | Need Remastered (full) OpenVMS Kit For V5.5-2H4 | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Wed Mar 12 1997 09:40 | 15 |

  "No joy" isn't a valid OpenVMS error message. What were the error
  messages generated during (I assume) the failed bootstrap), and what
  where the OpenVMS kit(s) that were installed?
  One must have a remastered kit -- "remastered" means the kit is a
  full kit and can be installed and booted from a clean disk -- for
  V5.5-2H4, as one cannot use one of the OpenVMS V5.5 kits and then
  hope to apply the V5.5-2 upgrade kit, as V5.5 will not boot on this
  box.
  Note that if there is anything in this system that requires a later
  release of OpenVMS, the customer will need to upgrade -- OpenVMS VAX
  V7.1 is the current release.
