537.0. "why not get a better message??" by MUNICH::REIN (How come holes in SWISS CHEESE??) Fri May 16 1997 07:11
    Hallo,

    I installed defrag ft 2.3 on our system.

    After some days i wanted to show some disks and entered a command

    MUNAXP::REIN>defrag/inter=decw
    %DFG-W-OPENIN, error opening DFG$DATABASE:DFG$FILE.DAT as input
    %DFG-W-SYSSRVERR, call to system service SYS$OPEN failed
    -DFG-I-MOREINFO, module: DFG$RMS_DATABASE.C Line: 6744
    -RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type for
    operation
    -SYSTEM-W-NOSUCHDEV, no such device available
    %RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type for
    operation

    I think, those messages are misleading, because after running
    the startup I could open the decwindows interface.

    Is it not possible to get a message which says, that the
    DFO utility is not started?
