Same story as in this note stream, ie ending up with a non funtioning
installation.
My personal solution for this was the following:
I looked at the registry information on another machine where
SQL server was functioning OK.
I manually entered most of the text variables which seems to make
sence :-).
This made SQLServer SETUP belive that there was a 'reall' version
installed on the computer. (ha ha) As a result I was able to
use the 'uninstal SQL Server' option in the setup menu, to
uninstal the product.
After that I rebooted the PC and installed SQL-server from the CD
and it worked. (knock knock)
Now, how do I justify the hours I spent on doing this
stupid work :-)
Fwiw,
Stefan

| 317.6 | Check this out when you got setup problems | SIOG::KEYES | Digital Application Gen DTN 827-5556 | Tue Feb 04 1997 15:21 | 20 |
Howdy Stefan.....
Something worth doing when you get setup problems.
Go to a Dos prompt and run setup as follows
>setup /?
You will get an interesting screen which will show you the options
you can use with setup /
....in your case a >setup /t may indeed have helped -)
(rebuilds your registery stuff)
