I have a customer with two AlphaServers with one 10Mbps and one 100Mbps
LAN cards in each (OpenVMS 6.2-1H3)- two different LANs, one Ethernet,
    one Fast Ethernet switch.

They are connected on the two LANs to two VAXes with DECnet IV full
function (VMS 5.5-2H4) with two Ethernet cards in each - one to the
Ethernet LAN, the other one to the Fast Ethernet switch (auto-sensing).

    1) Is it a valid configuration if I enable routing Phase IV address on
the two interfaces on AlphaServer ?

    2) Can I impose a prefered circuit between VAX and Alpha (connections are
    initiated from VAX) ?

    3) Can I use two DECnet IV areas, one for each LAN?

| This would be more appropiate for the DECNETVAX conference.... But: > 1) Is it a valid configuration if I enable routing Phase IV address on > the two interfaces on AlphaServer ? With IV there the aa-type address will always be set on the interfaces. As long as the two lans are separated (no bridges) this is no problem. > 2) Can I impose a prefered circuit between VAX and Alpha (connections are > initiated from VAX) ? Yes, you can set the circuit cost. > 3) Can I use two DECnet IV areas, one for each LAN? No. Regards, Oswald | |||||

Circuit cost will be set on the VAXes but what circuit will be prefered
for all connections initiated from AlphaServers (Decnet/OSI) to the
    VAXes ?

    Thanks,
