One of our customers has installed the VAXLIBR06_070 ECO on his cluster (running OpenVMS V6.2 and DECnet-Plus V6.3 + ECO6). After a complete cluster reboot, all nodes using the cluster alias hung within the NET$ALIAS_STARTUP.NCL. By commenting out the ENABLE ALIAS PORT command, he was able to reboot his cluster (obviously without the alias support). He tried also to manually enable the alias, but his process hung. Note: previously, there was no VAXLIBR05_070 ECO installed on the cluster. The customer has proactively installed the VAXLIBR06_070 ECO for the deltatime representation problem issue. We have examined the known problems escalated through the IPMT channel and have seen that there are at least 3 IPMTs open for this symptom (hung at NET$ALIAS_ STARTUP.NCL): CFS.45542,CFS.46686 and CFS.46779. And these latter are still open. Although we don't see a real correlation between the VAXLIB06_070 ECO installation, we would like to know: Question: does it already exist some patched image(s) which fixes this ENABLE ALIAS PORT problem and where can we find it (them)? Thank's in advance to answer to this note. Charles

3931.1 | NET$session_control fix on HELP""::KANSAS$KITS: | BULEAN::TAYLOR | Mon Apr 14 1997 15:06 | 20 | |
Hi, Yes, the fix for the cluster alias problem that was reproducible in our lab was fixed. This is not really an Alias problem, but a Session Control backtranslation with Alias the unfortunate victim. This fix for NET$session_control is on HELP""::KANSAS$KITS: There is both an Alpha and a VAX version. At this point, we would also prefer that you also install the newer NET$driver and NET$OSdriver, so that everything matches. See the HELP""::KANSAS$KITS:NET$SESSION_CONTROL.TXT files for the the images that should be installed in sys$common:[sys$ldr]. This fix will be included in 6.3 ECO7. Best Regards, Pat Taylor |
