|  | It would help to know more detail about how the disks are 
connected to the system to make sure there isn't a disk 
bottleneck.  In particular,
	SCSI adapters - what kind (KZPSA?) and how many (at least 4)?
	Disks - how are the distributed amongst the HSZs?
I also need to make a couple more assumptions:
  You're backing up to locally connected tape.
  The database is shut down during the backup.
  The database data is at least 2:1 compressible. (If it is less 
  compressible, you will need more tape drives.
Give that these are all reasonable, you should be looking at five 
or six TZ89 drives to deliver 140 GB/hr (~40 MB/sec).  I think 
your best bet might be a TL896, with 176 cartridges and 6 TZ89 
drives.
You'll need at least three KZPSA to connect the TL896 to the 
system, using one SCSI bus per pair of tape drives.
You can also look at the performance/sizing guidelines in note 
43.

 NetWorker tool than save, or perhaps the raw disk (rawasm) save to do it,
 which means shutting down the Database to do backups.
Also, perhaps, check out the recent white paper (or white paper to be)
 from ADABAS AG backing up an Informix Database on an 8400 - sadly, I do
