675.0. "client/server licensing issue" by USHS05::KENWORTHY () Tue May 13 1997 07:20
This question may be because of my lack of knowledge of Networker and
licensing in general but here goes!
I have a customer that in using networker. They have a server that is
backing up 19 clients, all using Digital UNIX v3.2c. The server has a
proper server license, a duplicate server license, a server architecture
license and each of the client systems has its own client license. The
server also has a 19 user client license that has to be entered 19 times!
This does not seem correct. If the customer bought a 19 user client
license, why does it have to entered 19 times?
When we use the lmf(8) utility to look at the license database I see
the following:
DECNSR-SRV-ARCH active unlimited
DECNSR-NET-SVR active unlimited
DECNSR-NET-SVR active,multiple unlimited
DECNSR-NET-CLNT active 19 19
DECNSR-NET-CLNT active.multiple 19 19
the above line is repeated 18 times
Is ther something that the customer is doing wrong, or is just the way
that it works??
regards
jimk

| NetWorker for Digital UNIX does not have a multi-client PAK.
Each client license needs to be entered separately. If a client
uses archiving, then it requires an additional client license.
